Tieto and the Norwegian company Powel have entered a partnership agreement targeting automation of the Meter to Cash value chain for energy utilities. This integration and automation of the processes in smart metering are considered as unique in the marketplace. For energy utilities, it means accurate and timely invoicing at a substantially lower cost.
The agreement stems from the business opportunities being created with the implementation of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Smart Grids throughout Europe. Tieto and Powel have successfully worked together on customer projects in the Nordic countries and the partners' offerings in this area complement each other.
"As a strategic part of our offering to the European and Nordic utilities, the combined offering strengthens our AMI portfolio. For the emerging AMI market in Norway, our joint offering is especially important," says Kary Warnerman, head of Tieto Energy.
The combined offering is based on Workflow Management System (WMS) from Tieto, Powel's Metering Data Management System (MDMS) and the central control system Powel ELIN. This enables the automation of AMI systems in both roll-out and operation of complete smart metering systems.
